The Japanese rock band The Brilliant Green was formed in Kyoto in 1995. Heavily
influenced by several female-led alternative rock acts of the 1990s, the trio of
Tomoko Kawase, Shunsaku Okuda, and Ryo Matsui made their official debut in 1997
with the standalone singles "Bye Bye Mr. Mug" and "Goodbye and Good Luck." In
1998, their single "There Will Be Love There (Ai no Aru Basho)" hit Number 1 in
