Sissel Kyrkjebø, known only by her first name Sissel, adopted as her stage name,
is a Norwegian crossover singer born in Bergen on June 24, 1969. With her
soprano timbre, she has achieved international fame with a highly varied
repertoire, ranging from Scandinavian folk songs and Christmas carols to opera
arias and sacred arias, as well as traditional and modern pop, which she can
perform in several languages including Swedish, English, French, Spanish,
