One of the lead exponents of the new wave of vallenato, Colombian singer-songwriter Silvestre Dangond was born in Urumita, La Guajira, on May 12, 1980. The son of vallenato musician William José "El Palomo" Dangond Baquero, he was encouraged to become a musician from a very young age. After graduating high school, he teamed up with accordionist Ramón López and began playing at local parties and venues before releasing his studio debut Tanto Para Ti in 2002.
