The German music duo Rosenstolz was founded in Berlin in 1991 by singer AnNa R.
and keyboardist and singer Peter Plate. They mixed elements of chanson with more
pop compositions, creating their very own style, which they first released in
1992 on an album called Soubrette werd' ich nie. They celebrated their
commercial breakthrough around the turn of the millennium with the albums Zucker
(1999), which reached number 2 in the German charts, and Kassengift (2000),
