Armando Pérez, aka Pitbull, hails from Miami (Florida), where he was born in 1981. But his Cuban origins soon led him to Latinize his rap with the basses of reggaeton. In 2004, M.I.A.M.I.: Money Is a Major Issue reached No. 14 in the United States. Subsequent albums El Mariel (2006) and Boatlift (2007) were less successful.
