JJ Grey & Mofro is a southern roots-rock band fronted by songwriter John
Higginbotham, also known as "JJ Grey." Higginbotham and Daryl Hance both grew up
near Jacksonville, Florida, where they co-founded the group in 1998. Blackwater,
the band's debut album, was released in 2001, followed by Lochloosa in 2004.
From the start, JJ Grey & Mofro's swampy sound featured an ever-evolving mix of
blues, soul, funk, and southern rock, and the band's lineup was similarly fluid,
