An Innu from Maliotename, Canadian singer-songwriter Florent Vollant (born on 10 August 1959 in Labrador) is a leading voice in First Nations folk, both as one half of the duo Kashtin with Claude McKenzie and as a solo artist in his own right. From 1989 to 1995, he recorded Kashtin, Innu and Akua Tuta, three albums that earned four Félix Awards as well as 1994's Artiste pour la Paix. 1999's Nipaiamianan, an Innu-language album of Christmas songs, won the Juno Award for Aboriginal Recording of the Year in 2001.
