Born Kang Daesung on 26 April 1989 in Seoul, the singer, actor, and television
personality known as Daesung (or D-lite in Japan) rose to fame as a member of
South Korean boyband Big Bang in 2006 before embarking on a solo career two
years later. As a champion of the popular Korean trot genre, he went to number
one with "Look at Me, Gwisoon" in 2008 and became a regular on the Gaon Digital
Chart with Big Bang, notching up hits like "Cotton Candy" and "Wings" from
