A mixed history brought the line-up of Culture Club together, in the wake of both a personnel change and numerous band name changes. However, in 1981 the group were as solid as they were ever going to be. Despite being turned down by EMI, they were snapped up by Virgin Records a year later. They began releasing music almost immediately but it wasn't until their third single 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me' was released that the band hit the big time.
