The origins of Blankass go back to the 1980s, when Johan Ledoux (guitar, vocals) and Guillaume Ledoux (vocals) formed Zéro de Conduite at the ages of nine and eleven. In 1990, they switched from new wave punk to French rock and formed Blankass. Their well-crafted rock quickly made a name for itself after the galop d'essai Blankass in 1996. L'Ère de Rien in 1998 earned Blankass an early popular success and a second nomination at the Victoires de la Musique awards.
