Born in London, England on March 6, 1970, vintage-loving rap-pop queen Alison Moira Clarkson earned the nickname Betty Boop due to her resemblance to the iconic cartoon character. However, to avoid legal issues, she settled on the stage name Betty Boo. She began honing her musical skills in hip-hop groups and, as a member of She Rockers signed to UK indie label Music of Life, releasing the "Give It a Rest" single in 1988, which was produced by Public Enemy's Professor Griff.
